Occupational Hazard

**Warning--pictures of my post surgery finger below! Just in case you are nervous about stitches! **
So, a few weeks ago I was sewing at my mom's house - preface the machine has six needles that come straight down to hold the six thread colors. I was moving the shirt I was sewing out of the way, not paying attention to the fact that needle position one was the thread that started sewing. Well, my finger happened to be in the way and the needle went right down on it. I have gotten my finger before but this one HURT like crazy. It scared me and I jerked my hand back to get away from the needle. I ran to the bathroom, washed off the blood and went back to make sure I could find all of the needle. Well, I couldn't find the tip...So I ran upstairs and made my brother (the paramedic student, love you Bubs!) take a look at it. In his (and my mom's defense) it really looked like I only had a scratch on my finger and nothing else. So I brushed it off, figured it hit the bone and went about my business. Fast forward a few weeks later - my finger was still red and swollen at the joint. I finally decided it was best if I went to urgent care just to make sure. After waiting a little while with my active three year old and x-ray confirmed my fears. I HAD A NEEDLE IN MY FINGER! Ah!! The doctor was like "good news, I found the tip of your needle" hahaha! He said he couldn't take it out in the office and refered me to an orthopedic hand surgeon.
I immediately took my x-ray disc home so I could show my mom, Dave and BJ that I seriously had a sewing machine needle in my hand. Things with hands and feet freak me out a little and I will say that my finger that didn't really bother me, sure bothered me a lot more after I knew there was a needle in there :) Ha!
I made an appt. with the hand surgeon and met at his office after picking C up from school on Tuesday. He was seriously laying on that chair doing airplane when the surgeon walked in, it was kind of funny. Connor was cracking me up because he was pretending to be the doctor asking me how long the needle was in my finger and how we were going to get it out, ha! Well, the doctor was super nice and told me that he too unfortunately couldn't do it in the office and it was off to the surgery center for me. We made the appointment for the next day - it was crazy it was a real deal operating room. I was on the table sweating bullets - I just had to remind myself that I wasn't going to feel anything. After the shot to numb my fingers (which hurt like the devil, dear lord I thought he was ripping my finger off) I didn't feel anything.
It was crazy though - he opened it up and found the needle and was like "oh, this isn't good". Not exactly what you want to hear in relation to your finger, haha! He said that it must have hit the bone when it went it and I have bone and tendon damage and he thought I had a bone infection that would require iv antibiotics. Thankfully all of that came back negative and now I am just waiting to get my stitches taken out! He said I will probably never be able to straighten it all the way with the tendon damage, but I will take it! I asked him how fast I could return to sewing and he said I could start working when I felt better as long as I kept my fingers away from the sewing machine! :) So, that is my finger saga so thankful to have it out and on the mend!

Easter 2012

We had another wonderful Easter in the Johnson household! Connor was so surprised to wake up in the morning and see if the easter bunny came! The easter bunny hid his baskets around the living room and it was really fun watching him hunt for them. He would find one, empty it out and then be on the hunt again. He was spoiled with bubbles, chalk, books, markers, coloring books, cars, pj's, undies and two new movies!

The Easter Bunny also delivered some eggs to our front yard! Connor was just so cute to watch he had the best time finding all of the eggs. He opened each one after he found it and put it in his basket. He got candy in a few and the rest had money for his piggy bank - he was SO excited!

He showed us each one, it was really sweet!

Daddy was outside using his new grinder from the easter bunny - he was grinding off the post from the old railing so I can put my flower pots on the step :)
Scout cracks me up in this picture - you would have thought we beat him instead of asking him to lay down :) He was probably waiting to pounce into Connor's easter candy :) haha!

This was the best post I could get - he wanted to pose on his bike. I figure anyway I can get a picture of him looking at the camera these days I will take it!
He was "sinking" about getting his picture taken, haha! I just loved his little outfit, I loved the colors and thought he looked a little too cute for words!
I always like to get a picture of us on Easter because we usually have fun bright outfits on - well, thanks to Uncle Shannon for snapping it this was the best we got! Ha! I think this pretty much sums us up these days - silly little stinker. At first I was a little bummed that he wouldn't smile but then I realized that he is 3 and I will always remember that little face as out epitomy of three :) After hanging out at our house we went over to my Uncle's with the whole family for a little easter brunch. We had a great time with family and Connor was spoiled with more goodies from the easter bunny. We had a great day and already can't believe that easter is over!

Easter Village 2012

We made our yearly trip to Easter Village and it did not disappoint! We just had the best time, like we do every year! We had a perfect day and just can't get over how cute the whole thing is. It is also amazing how many free activities we have around these parts, I love it! I joked walking in that I was pretty sure I would make my appearance with the Easter Bunny again this year. Maybe one year I will be able to stay out of the picture, haha! Look at that face, he wasn't going to have anything to do with him! :)

We loved petting these little piggies, they were precious! They were snorting and "biting" at our hands, it was way too cute! They had little puppies and Connor and Bj had to tear me away. I kept saying I wanted one and Connor kept going "but Momma, we have two puppies at home" hahahaha!

My sweet boys, I really love these two. I am pretty happy we spent the day together at Easter Village :) The dog show this year was amazing we were cheering and squealing the whole time. They play music when the dogs go through the agility competition and one of the songs was Sexy and I know it and out trots a little pot belly pig! It was way too cute and he did the agility contest just like the dogs, he even got the frisbee in his snout at the end :)

I just thought this little guy was too cute! Connor had so much fun petting all the animals this year, we pet the big, cow, chicks, goat, horse, bunnies, dogs, sheep and lambs!

He was not into smiling for the camera, I even bribed him with popcorn, haha! We had another wonderful year, and day at Purina Farms, we can't wait for next year!

Dying Easter Eggs!

Uncle Davey and Uncle Shannon came over last night for dinner and easter egg dying! We had such a fun time, we said it is going to be one of our new traditions :) Connor was so funny and loved dying eggs this year. He is inspecting the egg cups, seeing if the tablets have finished fizzing so we could put the water in. :)

He was seriously so excited, it was adorable! He was plunking the eggs in the cups and water was splashing up everywhere, it was pretty hilarious. He must have switched the eggs about 100 times in each of the different cups, he was killing us! We were each lucky to get one egg to dye, next year I am making 3 dozen!

He was so proud of his easter eggs, he knew which one he had dyed and which ones we had dyed. I am not kidding when I say that the first thing he did when he woke up this morning was check on his eggs in the fridge. He has gotten them out about 10 times since to make sure they are okay :) He kept talking about giving them to the Easter Bunny so he made sure to leave one on the porch for the easter bunny before he went to bed. Pretty stinking cute. We had the best time and already can't wait to do it again next year!

Woe is Three

I am slightly obsessed with our new camera so we had a few minutes before meeting my grandma for lunch the other day, so I took a few pictures! The minute I pulled it out C was like "Momma, I don't want my picture taken!". So I just kept snapping away and the pictures made me chuckle. I love my boy and there are so many things I love about age 3 but it is also by far the most difficult age we have encountered yet. I laugh and either I had the world's best two year old or it's really the "terrible 3's" :)

He is such a silly, snarky, headstrong little boy at three years old. He is stubborn as all get out and I love him for all of it :) For some reason these pictures just scream "Connor at age 3" for me!
This one was my favorite - it was seriously a "woe is me, momma has no idea how hard it is to be three!" Haha! He makes me laugh on a daily basis, some of the things that come out of his mouth kill me. He also loves to push my buttons with his attitude and has to sit in time out plenty of times a week.

Then, all of a sudden he couldn't wait to have his picture taken! Momma, take my picture while I climb my swing set. He wanted his picture taken with the dogs, silly little goose.

This was my favorite, he posed like this all on his own. Look at that stinky little face!! Haha! This looks like a senior picture gone bad :) Love this little boy, snarkiness and all!

Sweet & Silly Boy

We got a "new to us" camera the other day and I have been having fun playing around with it. I obviously need some work as all of these pictures are fuzzy, but it's been fun :) I have been *trying* to shoot more in manual, so we shall see what happens! Connor has this very impressive "pout pout lip" it is truly amazing how far his lip can stick out. I was telling him to show me the pout pout and this is what I got :)

It seems like snot on his nose is a permanent thing these days - we are over colds and on to allergies! Poor guy, I am hoping his nose dries up soon.
This face just screams "Connor" to me - he loves making this crazy little giggle and this face to go with it. I never in my life knew I could love someone as much as I love him. We have been having so much fun hanging out together.
He keeps telling me "Momma, you aren't a butthead or anything else, you are just a good Momma." WHAT?! Where in the world did the child hear butthead from?! It is silly and we have told him that isn't a kind word, but it still kind of makes me smile when he says it :) He has now ammended it to say "Momma, you are just a good Momma." Sweet, sweet boy has no idea how much my heart turns to putty when he says that.
