Beautiful Boy

I will admit I MAY be a little biased - but I think he is a beautiful little boy. I was playing "professional photographer" tonight and thought I would share these two pictures. I was trying to capture his new faces and movements. He has been sucking his lip in and clucking (its pretty adorable, video to come tomorrow - too tired to wait for it to upload) and he has been kicking his legs like its no body's business. So, I don't know that I really got them, but I just thought these shots were sweet - and I love black and white!
Will it ever cease to amaze me how big he is? How much he can change in a day, in a week? It's really quite amazing. He just looks like a big, sweet baby - OUR big sweet baby and we love him to pieces.

Bald Spots are for KISSING!

At least in my opinion that is the only explanation for baby bald spots! That or the fact that I have kissed the back of his head so many times the hair is starting to fall out! Hair has been a huge topic around our house lately as mine is literally falling out by the fistful. I have stopped taking the pre-natal vitamins and for whatever reason my long luscious pregnancy hair doesn't want to stick around and is instead falling out all over the bathroom floor. Bj told me I needed to get one of those flobie things and start "doing" my hair in the backyard. He is such a sweetie pie! We do get a pretty good laugh out of it though - imagine what then neighbors would say if I was out back with the furminator - eliminating mine and the dogs "excess and unwanted fur"!!
Connor man is also losing a little bit of hair right in the back middle of his head. It's kind of funny he still has a fair amount by his neck and on top - it's just that little spot in the back. I kind of like it because it's nice and soft and kissable! He likes to be held out so he can look around and his sweet little head is right there - how could you not kiss it? The poor kid is going to hate me one day for displaying a picture of his bald spot on the blog!!

Our Son

As I was watching Connor giggle and laugh at himself in the mirror tonight I was overcome with a sense of love and pride - similar to the feeling I get every time Bj or I says "our son". I don't know what it is but something about that term and the word "son" is so powerful to me. He is and always will be our son. I think for the first week after he was born I was on cloud nine with adrenaline rushing through my body - I was SO PROUD of Bj, myself and Connor. So proud of what we had done and who we had created, this perfect tiny little man. Childbirth in itself is an amazing and empowering experience - so much time and work goes into growing and birthing a baby - and then all of a sudden they are HERE, in the world and a piece of you. I think I fall in love a little bit more every single day that I spend with him as everyday he does something new, special and completely amazing to me.
So maybe it is the culmination of all those things that makes the tears prickle in the back of my eyes making me choke up every time I hear the word "son" - the pride, love, amazement and joy. He has such a beautiful smile and contagious giggle, my sweet boy. I know that we would both do anything in the world for him and I look forward to all of the moments in the future where "our son" makes us proud.

Desperate Housewives

I am not too proud to admit it - I love to watch tv. Since bedrest and maternity leave I have become addicted to a few more shows, our poor DVR is full! (side note - what did we do before DVR, I don't think I could live without it anymore!) My recent favorites are Bones, Prison Break and...I am ashamed to admit I also love The Real Housewives of New York City - though I think most of them are completely crazy. But, my biggest addiction is Desperate Housewives. I am sad that I didn't begin my love affair with this series in the hospital because it would have killed three hours of my day - TBS shows three back to back episodes Monday through Friday and I have thus caught up from the pilot to the current series. I plan my Sunday nights accordingly - it is the only night I stay up late, mind you - just so I can fold clothes and watch the newest episode. I love it - I think (even though I wouldn't have thought so prior to watching the show) Eva Longoria Parker's character is my favorite, in case you were wondering! Also another little tidbit MJ name was supposed to be Connor. It was what they picked out until Mike's grandpa died and they named him Maynard instead. Crazy, huh?! Now that I have shared my tv addiction it's off to watch Bride Wars! Ha! :)

I have a problem...

I am addicted to Gymboree.
My name is Ellen and I am a baby-clothes-buying-addict. I can't help myself - I see a sale/bargain/cute thing and I can't pass it up. I did not buy him one stitch of clothing until after he arrived and now I can't stop! I must admit though - no one could pass up the FOUR pairs of pants I bought him last week for $0.76 - yes, seventy-six cents!!

The sweater and onesie that match the cars shorts - I bought on ebay - I am telling you I am crazy. I HAD to have the onesie that matched the shorts I got for $2.00 so I tracked it down on ebay - the lady gave me free shipping too!

I personally think I am going to start a line of boy clothes because there are just not enough out there - and I refuse to pay full price for anything (I prefer anything $4.99 and under - even better if I have coupon). They grow out of them so fast - I feel like I NEED to stock up on all the great sales out there. I was lucky enough not to discover Gymboree until after I had a baby and I love that place. They have super cute clothes, good quality and (at least the one in Longmont) has tremendous sales! I have probably spent about $45.00 in total and I have gotten C an entire wardrobe for the summer and 12-18 months. They have this one rack (it used to be two until I came along) and all the clothes are $6.99 and under - I went in there one day and all of it was an additional 20% off AND I had a coupon for an additional 20% off of that. I was floored - I seriously bought four fleece sweatsuit outfits (pants/onesie/hoodie) for $3.00 each. Ah, I love it! I thought I would post a TINY (that isn't even a portion of the 12-18 month outfits!) preview of my labor of love...and the little man I drug around with me this weekend in search of bargains. He was a trooper my sweet little man. But, come on, who could resist those cute things?!

Sleeping Like a Baby...

It's a fact. I could watch Connor sleep for hours. It started in the hospital when I couldn't hold him. I would sit in his room, read, and watch him sleep. I don't think he could be any cuter as he sleeps either. He prefers his tummy - has from the beginning - and he always has his hands by his face. Last night he had both of them straight up by his head. When I first lay him down his little butt sticks straight up in the air and if I am lucky, his sweet little feet will cross. I check on him all the time before I go to bed and right before I leave in the morning. I love watching him stretch out and get cozy - I can't wait for the day he has a lovey or a blankie that he has to snuggle with. I love how his little lips and cheeks are smashed on the side of the sheet - and how he drools.
Equally as cute is watching him fall asleep. He likes to lay in your arms (if he isn't eating) and bury his face in the crook of your arm. He rubs back and forth, gets cozy and falls asleep. It doesn't take long - but he does like to walk, bounce or be rocked in his chair. I love the sound of him breathing and feeling him get cozy and snug in my arms. I think he feels safe and loved - and I just feel overwhelming love. I think it could be one of life's perfect moments- every night putting him to bed and every morning waking up with him. I am never upset or stressed when I am putting him to sleep - we are both just happy and content. I find myself holding him longer and longer after he falls asleep - he is already starting to get so wiggly I know one day my hours of snuggling him in my lap are going to come to an end - and my snuggle sessions will be a little shorter. I almost cried the other day while we were all having our usual Sunday morning snuggle when I realized that he no longer fits inside my jacket while laying on my chest like he did when he first arrived. I just can't believe how big he has gotten in just four and a half months - the sweet bugster!

Workaholic

Daddy made us lunch but Connor just couldn't stand taking a break - the little workaholic - and worked right through lunch while Momma and Daddy ate. He even made me bring the computer from the table to the chair where he explained he was "more comfortable". Good work Connor - keep knocking out those RFP's for Momma!
